UNDER THE RADAR - A LIFETIME OF MUSIC
Let me introduce myself. I am David Hume.
In 1967 I moved, with my parents, to a council flat on The Royal Mile, Edinburgh. It was there, in my 18th year, that I began assimilating all the thoughts and music I had been accumulating since I was a child. From then on in, words would turn into lyrics, sounds into melodies and experiences and stories into songs. Some fiction, some fantasy, some reality and some a blend of all three. Some withered on the vine but many have lived on despite my, at times, amateurish recordings.
One August day in 2023, during the Festival Fringe I was sitting in Riddles Court, my old backyard WHEN I began thinking that, to fill my autumn years, I should gather all the old and new recordings of my songs along with lyrics and stories.
For what are songs without stories? I have scoured the corners of my memory and to the best of my mental recollection and creative ability have added them as an accompaniment to each set of lyrics.
Throughout each of the forthcoming albums there are different recordings on different machines/computers and different versions of songs through different decades, in different genres…and yes, some melodies may repeat with different lyrics … and there are mistakes that I can hear … and there are guest appearances and… anyway, I’ve always tried to do my best to display the songs…so…
…have a listen to ‘Under The Radar’ - an Introduction,….and let me know what you think.
